[SmartGuide](https://www.smartguide.app/) [digital audio guide](https://blog.smart-guide.org/en/conventional-vs-digital-audio-guides-whats-the-best-audio-guide-option?hsLang=en) platform continues to enhance travel experiences with advanced functionalities. A prime example of this is its new AI Itinerary Planner, which makes organizing trips easier than ever for travelers. By combining [personalized recommendations](https://blog.smart-guide.org/en/smartguide-launches-ai-powered-personalized-recommendations-for-travelers?hsLang=en) with real-time location and time-efficient routes, it takes the hassle out of planning.

Let's look into how SmartGuide's tour planner works and how to enable this feature for more engaging and efficient tours.

## What is SmartGuide's AI itinerary planner, and how does it work?

SmartGuide AI tour planner is a new in-app feature that creates custom tours based on individual interests, ensuring a smooth and smarter way to explore destinations. It provides two default modes to app users, offering tailored options to suit different travel needs:

1. **Round trip**: This creates a tour that begins and finishes at the same location, such as a hotel or another selected spot, making it convenient for users who prefer a circular route. It adjusts itineraries based on the time available (users provide the duration), making it easy to fit a walking tour into any schedule.
2. **From A to B**: This mode lets users define both a starting point and an endpoint for their tour. Whether it’s their current location or a place they would like to begin from, they have the freedom to end the tour at their selected destination.

*SmartGuide's AI tour planner working*

The AI itinerary planner offers remarkable flexibility for travelers. Users can set their current location or select any desired place as the starting point, giving them full control over their itinerary. By including must-see [points of interest (POIs)](https://blog.smart-guide.org/en/promote-a-single-point-of-interest-in-a-digital-travel-guide-of-a-destination?hsLang=en), it guarantees visits to essential attractions at the destination.

What makes this planner truly special is its ability to craft **tours that align with each user's interests**. Whether a user prefers art, scenic routes, history, or nature, the AI analyzes preferences and builds the itinerary accordingly. Once the tour is generated, personalized routes appear on the app, ready for immediate use. This combination of personalization and simplicity makes planning as enjoyable as the tour itself.

## Who can access the AI itinerary planner?

SmartGuide's itinerary planner is built to cater to different types of users, offering various ways to enable this feature.

**Access for subscribers**: While the itinerary interface is open to all users, only Premium subscribers can access the tours generated based on their generated personal itinerary.

**Access in sponsored destinations:** Tourism boards and destinations can extend access to the AI itinerary planner to all users by sponsoring the feature through SmartGuide Prime. This sponsorship enables all visitors, including non-subscribers, to use the planner-generated tours.

## Future developments - Integrating the planner with other features

SmartGuide plans to integrate the AI tour planner with additional functionalities, including SmartGuide [chatbot](https://blog.smart-guide.org/en/smartguide-ai-chatbot-for-custom-itineraries-coming-soon?hsLang=en), weather updates, and other smart travel tools for a better visitor experience.

These updates will allow for more dynamic and real-time travel planning, providing app users with relevant information throughout their journey. With continuous improvements, the itinerary planner will progress to offer even more tailored and efficient itineraries, making travel planning smoother and highly convenient.
