How to check your guide with the SmartGuide QC Checker before you publish

You have researched the point of interest, written the story and added it to SmartGuide with SmartGuide CMS. Before you publish, ask one more question. Would this content work for someone hearing it for the first time while standing at the place?
A text can be factually correct and still be difficult to follow, too generic or more like a brochure than a guide. The SmartGuide Content Quality (QC) Checker helps you spot those gaps before visitors encounter them.
Make it part of your final editorial check for every point of interest. You supply the content, get a focused review and decide what needs changing before it goes live.
What is the SmartGuide QC Checker?
The QC Checker is prompt-based. It is a set of review instructions that you paste into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or a similar AI tool, together with the content you want to check. You do not need technical knowledge to follow the workflow.
It reviews the Narrative and Learn More content of a Destination's Point of Interest (POI). The Narrative is the main narration. Learn More provides optional depth for visitors who want to explore the story further. The two sections should complement each other rather than repeat the same facts.
The checker is instructed to return a score out of 10, a publishing-readiness verdict, what works and the most important improvements. The review happens in your AI conversation. You still review the changes and copy the approved text back into the CMS yourself.
What makes content SmartGuide-ready?
It works when heard once. The checker looks for natural spoken language, clear sentences and a structure that helps a first-time visitor follow the story. Dense passages packed with names, dates or architectural terms can be accurate without being good audio narration.
It gives visitors something specific to notice or remember. A visible detail, a human story or a well-explained local tradition is more useful than calling somewhere a hidden gem. The aim is to help visitors understand this particular place, not just tell them that it is worth visiting.
It handles facts carefully. Incorrect or unsupported claims matter more than polished wording. Legends can enrich a stop, but they must be presented as legends rather than proven history. A claim that cannot be verified should be flagged for checking, not automatically declared wrong.
Its depth suits the place. Short content may need only one to three strong, verified facts or stories. Standard content should offer several relevant facts and at least one memorable angle. Deep content for an important landmark may deserve several developed stories, visible details and historical layers.
Longer does not automatically mean worse. Rich, well-structured Deep content can earn 10/10. Equally, a small local sight should not be padded just to make the narration longer. The question is whether the detail earns its place and remains easy to follow.
Useful on-site observations also count. Helping a visitor find a detail connected to the story adds value. Generic reminders about parking, tickets or opening hours should not fill the narration unless you have specifically asked for a practical-information review.
How to check your content before publishing
1. Open a new AI conversation
Open your preferred AI tool and start a new conversation for the POI you are reviewing. Keep the review and revisions for that place in the same conversation. Start a fresh conversation when you move to a different POI to reduce the risk of mixing information between places.
2. Paste the full QC Checker prompt
Copy the complete prompt below and paste it into the message field. Do not send it yet. You will add your content in the same message.
The prompt is long because it contains the review criteria, scoring guidance and output format. Depending on your AI tool, a long paste may appear as a text attachment instead of visible text. Make sure the complete instructions are included.

3. Add the complete content from the CMS
Open the Destination POI in the CMS and copy its complete Narrative and Learn More content. Paste them below the checking prompt using this template. Include the place name and location so the reviewer can identify the right place.
Content submission template
Evaluate the following POI using the SmartGuide Content Quality Checker instructions above. Review the content first. Do not rewrite it yet. POI name: [Official or clear local place name] Location: [Town or region and country] Narrative: [Paste the complete Narrative from the CMS] Learn More:
If Learn More contains text, paste it below its heading. If the CMS field is empty, leave the space below that heading blank. Do not write "Empty", "N/A" or a placeholder there.
You can also include Category and Depth labels if you already use them. Otherwise, the checker is instructed to infer them. Photos are optional and can be included for a suitability review. Once the full prompt and content are together, send the message.
4. Read the verdict and the priority fixes
The checker prompt specifies four verdicts. Read the explanation as well as the score, especially any factual concerns.
| Verdict | What it means | Your next step |
|---|---|---|
| SmartGuide-ready | Publishable as it is, or with optional refinements. | Complete your final human review. No rewrite is needed just for the sake of it. |
| Needs minor revision | Strong content with a few small changes needed. | Address the suggested edits or factual wording checks. |
| Needs revision | Clear issues with structure, style, factual confidence, relevance or visitor value. | Revise the affected content and review the result. |
| Not suitable | Substantial problems, such as misleading, irrelevant, under-verified or wrong-place content. | Resolve the underlying problems before preparing it for publication. |
In the scoring guidance, 9/10 means excellent, SmartGuide-ready content and 10/10 means best practice. A 7 or 8 indicates strong content with meaningful improvements still possible. A lower score calls for closer attention to the weaknesses identified.
Treat the result as editorial guidance, not automatic factual approval. A high score does not resolve an unverified claim.
5. Revise only what needs changing
You can make the edits yourself. A clear sentence or a strong story does not need replacing just because AI can suggest another version.
For a more substantial revision, first resolve any factual questions raised in the review. Then send this rewrite prompt in the same conversation.
Prompt to improve the content
Rewrite the Narrative and Learn More content based on your recommendations so that the content achieves a score of at least 9/10. Preserve all accurate facts, keep the two sections separate, and return only the final content ready to be pasted into the CMS. If the Learn More section was empty, leave it empty.
The 9/10 target is a quality goal, not a guarantee. The revised text still needs your approval, especially where the AI has changed a name, date, historical detail or claim.
6. Review and recheck the final version
Read the revised text before using it. Check place names, dates and historical details against your sources. Pay particular attention to anything newly added. Confirm that legends still sound like legends and that Learn More has remained blank if it was blank originally.
Read the narration aloud as well. Can a visitor follow it without seeing the text? Are the sentences easy to say? Do the on-site observations make sense for someone at the place?
As an additional pre-publication check, you can use the follow-up below to review the version you actually intend to publish. Paste the final text rather than relying on an earlier draft in the conversation.
Optional final-check prompt
Re-evaluate the revised content below using the same SmartGuide Content Quality Checker criteria. Assess this version on its merits. Do not assume it deserves a higher score because it has been revised. Return the standard score, verdict, what works, and what should be improved. Clearly distinguish factual errors, claims that still need verification, and acceptable legends or traditions. Do not rewrite the content in this response. Narrative: [Paste the final Narrative] Learn More:
As before, add Learn More content only when that section is populated. Any unresolved factual concern still needs your attention, regardless of the new score.
7. Save the approved content in the CMS
Copy only the final Narrative and Learn More text into the corresponding CMS fields and save your changes. Do not paste the evaluation, score, verdict or AI explanations into visitor-facing content.
Then repeat the process for the next POI in a new AI conversation. Check each stop before publishing the guide, rather than treating one good result as approval for all its content.
Give every stop a final check
The goal is not to make every story the same length or give every author the same voice. It is to make sure each stop is accurate, clear when spoken and worth the visitor's attention.
Before publishing, run each POI through the SmartGuide QC Checker and address any issues it identifies. A quick final check helps ensure your content is clear, accurate, natural to listen to, and genuinely useful for visitors.
